President of United States Joe Biden, aged 79, has been tested positive for Covid-19. In a press briefing at White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and white house Covid coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha announced that President Biden is showing ‘very mild symptoms’ of covid and is working in isolation. Dr Jha said that President Biden went to bed fine but could not sleep and was tested positive on the morning of Thursday. First Lady Jill Biden said she tested negative.
Ms Jean-Pierre said that consistent with White House protocol the president will continue to work in isolation until he tests negative, and he will attend meetings via phone or Zoom. Her press notes also added that the president is taking the antiviral medicine Paxlovid. The medicine stops the virus from multiplying while the human immune system fights infection. Mr Biden is the oldest president in US history.

First Lady Jill Biden said in a press conference, “”He’s feeling good. I tested negative this morning. I’m going to keep my schedule. According to CDC guidelines, I’m keeping masked,”
There have been almost 90 million Covid-19 positive cases in USA with over 1 million deaths. Mr. Biden is the second US president tested positive for Covid-19 after Donald Trump was taken to the hospital in 2020.
