Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen is scheduled to accompany Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her ensuing visits to London, New York, and Washington, said a Foreign Ministry official.
Earlier, the foreign minister was not a part of the PM’s entourage during her recent state visit to India (September 5-8).
PM Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit UK and USA from September 15 to September 30, confirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka. She is going to attend the event themed as “A watershed moment: transformative solutions to interlocking challenges.”
A watershed moment: transformative solutions to interlocking challenges’ is the theme of the opening of the United Nations General Assembly’s 77th session on September 13.
The theme comes from the fact that the world is in a very important time in the history of the UN as there are many different crises that are all connected to each other – like the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, humanitarian problems, a tipping point in climate change, and growing worries about threats to the global economy.
These emergencies have never been seen before. The leaders are participating in the summit to develop and concentrate on cooperative solutions to these issues and create a more sustainable and resilient society for everyone and for future generations.
This year’s general debate, which starts on September 9 and lasts until September 26, is likely to be all in person. On September 20, the heads of state and government at the UN General Assembly will discuss solutions to the current global concerns.
