The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has gone up at the consumer level in the country. The price of 12-kilogram LPG cylinder has been increased from Tk 1,242 to Tk 1,254. In other words, the price has increased by Tk 1 per kilogram. The new price is to be effective from 6pm today (on Sunday/ July 3).
As regulator, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Abdul Jalil announced the new price at a virtual press conference.
However, the price of 12kg cylinder has not changed at the government level, so it is still Tk 591. The price of auto-gas used in cars has been increased from Tk 57.91 per litre to Tk 58.48 per litre.
BERC has been announcing the LPG price every month in line with the prices of propane and butane of Saudi Aramco to keep pace with the international market. In April last year, BERC fixed the price of LPG for the first time in the country. Since then, the price is being adjusted once a month.
