Cambodian politician Suy Chhay Leang led a humanitarian initiative on Saturday, delivering essential aid to 30 families—comprising 100 people, including elderly residents and children—in Kandal province. The effort, supported by senior officials from the Kandal Provincial Party Committee, aimed to improve living conditions for vulnerable communities in the region.
Accompanied by Kuoch Chamroeun, Chairman of the Kandal Provincial Party Committee, and Nou Sakhon, Chairman of the Kandal Provincial Standing Committee, the delegation distributed food, books, clothing, and clean water tanks. Three families facing extreme hardship received newly built toilets, while primary school students in Prek Knach village, Loek Dek commune, Koh Thom district, were provided with essential educational materials.

The initiative was made possible through donations from Suy Chhay Leang and Krueun Sophal, with additional contributions from the Trace Skeen family in Utah, USA. The relief effort highlights the ongoing support from both local and international donors in addressing poverty and improving infrastructure in rural Cambodia.

Addressing the gathered community, Suy Chhay Leang emphasized the Cambodian People’s Party’s (CPP) commitment to social welfare, stating, “Wherever there is difficulty, party leaders and activists will step in to support the people. The hardships of the people are shared by the Party.” He also encouraged children to focus on their education, stressing that acquiring knowledge and skills is essential for securing stable employment and a prosperous future.

In a separate statement, he strongly condemned an alleged assassination attempt on Senate President Samdech Techo, which reportedly involved a drone attack on his residence. “We strongly denounce the extremist group behind this terrorist plot and urge the authorities to take immediate action to bring them to justice. Such threats must not go unpunished,” he said.

The call for swift legal action against the perpetrators comes amid rising concerns over political stability and security in Cambodia. Authorities have been urged to intensify efforts to prevent further threats against high-ranking officials and ensure national security.
