Ronaldo Announces Candidacy for CBF President

There has been growing speculation for some time that football legend Ronaldo Nazário is considering a run for the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). Having previously hinted at his interest, Ronaldo has now officially confirmed his intention to contest the upcoming election for the position.

Scheduled for between March 2025 and March 2026, the election will determine the new president of the CBF, the governing body of Brazilian football. On Monday, Ronaldo took a significant step towards that goal by announcing his candidacy, setting the stage for what promises to be a highly anticipated contest.

To enter the race, Ronaldo needs the support of at least four state football federations and four clubs, a challenge he is ready to tackle. He has made it clear that he will travel across Brazil, meeting with various stakeholders to gather the necessary backing. Ronaldo, who has previously invested in several football clubs after retiring from his playing career, is now fully committed to the idea of leading Brazilian football back to its former glory.

Ronaldo, who famously led Brazil to victory in the 2002 World Cup, expressed his determination to rejuvenate the national team, whose current form has been underwhelming both on and off the pitch. “There is a strong drive within me. The biggest drive is to bring Brazilian football back to the global stage,” Ronaldo said. “People on the street are asking me to come back because they see how much the national team needs help right now. Things aren’t going well, on or off the field.”

With his campaign now officially underway, all eyes will be on Ronaldo as he looks to return Brazilian football to its former heights.
