In a stunning collapse during the Bangalore Test, India was bowled out for just 46 runs, setting multiple unwanted records. This score marks India’s lowest total on home soil and the lowest score ever recorded by any team in Test history on Asian soil. Only two Indian batsmen reached double digits, while five were dismissed for ducks, narrowly avoiding their infamous 36-run debacle from 2020.

Facing New Zealand in their first innings, India’s top scorer was Rishabh Pant with 20 runs, followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 13. The rest of the batting lineup struggled immensely, with nine players failing to score in double digits. This collapse broke India’s previous record for the lowest total at home, which had stood at 75 runs since a match against the West Indies in 1987.

New Zealand’s bowlers dominated, with Matt Henry taking five wickets for just 15 runs. Will O’Dowd chipped in with four wickets for 22, while Tim Southee claimed the final wicket to complete the rout.
