Throughout the ages, the art of handloom has always been an integral part of the rich Bangladesh culture. Tradition of handloom has affected & shaped various aspects of our culture from luxurious era of Mughals and Nawabs with their pristine maslin fabric to the progressive age of using jute as a sustainable alternative to plastic. Now with the newly rising desirability of vintage-wares as well as traditional clothing, there is a high demand for handloom products of every sort. Handloom has become a go-to pick for members of affluent echelon of the society – creating that native ambiance within the living room as well as wearing a fitting cultural attire that can establish a personality statement. A brief portrayal of Bangladesh’s handloom culture and its products has been featured here from the Heritage Handloom Festival 2022 which took place at Gulshan Shooting Club, Dhaka from 9th to 12th February.
