On Sunday morning (July 2), the final day of her two-day trip, Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina walked half a kilometer from her residence to visit the Tungipara Upazila Awami League office in Gopalganj, breaking protocol and exchanged Eid greetings with local activists and citizens residing there.
During the visit to Gopalganj, Bangabandhu’s daughter, Sheikh Hasina was warmly welcomed by local activists and common people with slogans and a procession. She has exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings with individuals from all socioeconomic classes in Tungipara.

The presence of the Prime Minister in Tungipara has increased the locals’ pleasure, enthusiasm, and festivity. To greet the premier, all of Gopalganj has been decorated with colorful posters, banners, and placards.
Later, Sheikh Hasina took part in an event held at the Tungipara Upazila Awami League office to exchange Eid greetings with local Awami League leaders, activists, local representatives, and commoners.
“My target is to change the fate of the people of Bangladesh”
In her speech at the event, the Prime Minister said that since the formation of the government in 2009, Bangladesh has undergone significant changes. “My target is to change the fate of the people of Bangladesh,” Sheikh Hasina said in an introductory speech.
The premier said that her government has made massive development of the country through various initiatives such as, “My House, My Firm”, Community Clinic, Digital Bangladesh, and “My Village, My Town”. “We are advancing the country through various social development projects,” she said.
She further stated that now there is no longer a village without electricity. “We have improved the infrastructure of roads. Bangladesh is now recognized as a role model for development internationally. There is no region in Bangladesh that I have not travelled. I made the ride on boat, sampan, launch, and rickshaw-van to reach the country’s remotest areas,” she added.
She continued: “I have traveled the country in such ways and I took Bangladesh in such a dignified position using experiences that I had achieved roaming around the country. With this understanding, I have undertaken initiatives for development. Now we have positioned Bangladesh at a certain level.”
During the view exchange meeting, the Prime Minister wanted to hear about Tungipara’s growth from local Awami League, partner organization leaders, activists, and local representatives. At the viewpoint exchange, when Sheikh Hasina declared her desire to retire on the basis of her age, the locals pleaded with her to remain as Prime Minister for the betterment of the nation and its citizens. They expressed their desire for Sheikh Hasina to become the next prime minister, reaffirmed their commitment to labor and assistance, and wished for Sheikh Hasina to become the next prime minister.
Prior to this, the Prime Minister reached Kotalipara on Saturday morning during her two-day trip. Saturday, upon her arrival at the Kotalipara Upazila Awami League office, the prime minister planted three Neem (Margosal), Bakul (Spanish Cherry), and mango trees. She also inaugurated the newly constructed Awami League office in Kotalipara Upazila.
She then exchanged Eid greetings and had lunch with local Awami League activists and common people in Kotalipara. After completion of the programs, the premier went to Tungipara on Saturday afternoon and paid rich tributes and offered Fateha and joined a munajat at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The premier spent the night of Saturday at Tungipara.
This afternoon, the premier is scheduled to leave Tungipara for Dhaka. During her visit, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of the Prime Minister, accompanied her.
