Bangladesh cricket has bid farewell to one of its greatest batting icons, Tamim Iqbal, marking the end of a remarkable era. Tamim, widely regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most successful batsmen in international cricket, retired after leaving an indelible mark in the record books with numerous accolades and milestones.
The prolific opener holds the record for most runs at a single venue in ODIs, having scored an impressive 2,853 runs in 87 matches at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Following him are two other Bangladeshi greats — Mushfiqur Rahim (2,684 runs) and Shakib Al Hasan (2,656 runs).
Another significant achievement came in Test cricket when Tamim, alongside Imrul Kayes, stitched a record-breaking 312-run partnership in the second innings against Pakistan in Khulna, 2015 — the highest second-innings opening partnership for Bangladesh in Tests.
