Many smartphone apps secretly collect sensitive data, including user locations, messages, and call logs, and share it with third parties. Known as stalkerware, these apps pose significant risks, not just by exposing personal information but also by increasing the likelihood of cyberattacks. To combat this, Kaspersky has launched a groundbreaking feature in its Android app called “Who Is Spying on Me.”
This new feature includes a stalkerware scanner that can detect apps secretly gathering personal data. It goes a step further by identifying suspicious devices within a 100-meter range that may be collecting information and alerting users. Additionally, it empowers users to manage and strengthen their privacy settings to safeguard their data.
Marina Titova, Vice President of Consumer Product Marketing at Kaspersky, shared, “We’ve been at the forefront of fighting stalkerware and were the first to warn users about third-party tracking. By improving our mobile app, we aim to protect users from both digital and offline stalking threats.”
With this innovation, Kaspersky not only enhances user privacy but also sets a new standard for mobile security, ensuring peace of mind in an increasingly interconnected world.
