In an emotional farewell to his legendary tennis career, Rafael Nadal played his final match as Spain exited the Davis Cup quarterfinals. Representing Spain in the first singles match, Nadal faced a tough challenge against the Netherlands’ Botic van de Zandschulp, losing 6-4, 6-4.

Carlos Alcaraz kept Spain’s hopes alive with a victory in the second singles match, defeating Tallon Griekspoor 7-6 (7/0), 6-3. However, the deciding doubles match saw Alcaraz and Marcel Granollers fall to the Dutch pair of van de Zandschulp and Wesley Koolhof in two close sets, 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (7/3), sealing Spain’s exit.

Nadal, who announced his retirement last month, expressed his gratitude to fans, reflecting on his 23-year career that saw him win 22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 French Opens, and 92 titles overall. Injuries have plagued him in recent years, forcing this decision.

“I’m not tired of tennis, but my body doesn’t allow me to continue. I’m fortunate to have made my passion my profession for so long,” he shared, bidding an emotional goodbye to the sport that defined his life.
