In a significant press conference convened at the International Mother Language Institute, prominent academicians and scholars gathered to discuss and condemn the rising threats of terrorism, extremism, and political injustice in Bangladesh Today at 10 AM. Academicians from various fields of study gathered at the “Academicians Exchange Views Against Terrorism, Extremism, and Political Injustice” event in order to discuss the most pressing issues confronting the country. The Education Research and Development Forum Bangladesh (ERDFB) coordinated the occasion.

The press briefing covered various significant topics, one of which was the country’s distressing escalation of violent events involving Jamaat-e-Islami and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). This escalation has been characterized by a disquieting sequence of incidents, including arson, vandalism, and massacres. Amid the discourse, apprehensions were expressed regarding the ability of students to coincide with classes and examinations, notwithstanding their adequate preparation, on account of strikes and demonstrations; this could engender psychological strain and impede the attainment of desired results.

The press briefing also addressed the matter of purported foreign influence, wherein certain assertions linked the United States to the continuation of instability and unlawful operations conducted by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. During the gathering, eminent individuals, including vice-chancellors from multiple universities, contributed their insights. The forum appealed to the government to implement suitable strategies to guarantee the uninhibited participation of both educators and learners in classroom settings and examinations.

Furthermore, they demanded that the government collaborate with students and educators in opposition to terrorism and non-political activities across the nation. Further allegations have surfaced regarding the alleged support of the United States for the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami in their ongoing unrest, terrorism, and non-political activities.

Presided over by Professor Sazzad Hossen, the Chairman of ERDFB, the leadership emphasized the destructive politics of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, particularly in the context of the upcoming national elections, while stressing the imperative of a secure educational environment for the nation’s approximately 5 million higher education students. A resounding call to solidarity against terrorism and non-political activities concluded the event, emphasizing the significance of collaboration among the government, educators, and students in order to address the nation’s challenges.

The event’s distinguished guest list consists of prominent individuals hailing from diverse academic institutions, thereby enhancing the gathering’s prestige. Professor Md. Mashiur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the National University, Professor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, are among the distinguished attendees. Additionally in attendance is Professor Shamim Ara Hassan, who holds the position of Vice-Chancellor of Sonargaon University.

Additional esteemed individuals participated in the occasion, such as Professor Dr. Ferdousi Khatun, an Associate Professor at Jagannath University, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahirul Hoque, Vice-Chancellor of Metropolitan University. Professor Dr. Manindra Kumar Roy is the Vice-Chancellor of R.P. Shaha University. Professor Ven. Dr. Jinabodhi Bhikkhu, a former Chairman of the Department of Pali at the University of Chittagong, contributes to the academic diversity. Dr. Md. Mijanoor Rahman, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, further contributes his scholarly insights to the esteemed assembly. This esteemed gathering is representative of numerous academic institutions and fields, ensuring a stimulating and enlightening interchange of ideas.

The occasion culminated in a resolute appeal for collective resistance against terrorism and non-political engagements, emphasizing the criticality of government, educator, and student solidarity in addressing the nation’s predicaments. Press Xpress was the exclusive media partner of the event.
