“Awami League’s rally means rally across the whole capital. You’ll see its representation on the 2nd of September and even on the 1st of September. A rally of Youths.”- Obaidul Quader

Amidst the drizzling rain of Dhaka, the Awami League calls for a Peaceful Gathering against BNP-Jamaat’s Violence. Dhaka South’s Committee of Awami League called for the gathering on 24th August 2023 in a press release.

About Awami League’s Peaceful Gathering

While Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attends the 15th BRICS Summit in South Africa, Awami League’s Committee of Dhaka South called for a peaceful gathering in front of the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue today, Friday, at 3:00 pm. Awami League leaders assert that this gathering is designed to protest against endeavors aimed at fostering the ‘terror and anarchy’ of BNP. As BNP has also organized their anti-government black flag demonstration on the same day. Obaidul Qader the General Secretary of Awami League gave his speech in the gathering.

In the gathering, Quader stated that, “Awami League’s rally means rally across the whole capital. You’ll see its representation on the 2nd of September and even on the 1st of September. A rally of Youths.” Indicating the possible dates of upcoming rallies at Suhrawardy Udyan.

“Keeping the 12th National Election ahead, we are doing this peaceful gathering, a gathering for the nation’s development,” Quader added.

Quader further exclaimed that “America urged for a peaceful election, and those who will create obstacles to a free and fair election shall be banned. Then why is not BNP banned yet? I want to ask this question as August is about to end.” And ended his speech by inviting all the present people to 1st September’s upcoming youth rally.

BNP’s Black Flag Demonstration

The de facto opposition, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), along with other like-minded opposition parties organized an anti-government Black Flag Demonstration. This is one of their consecutive rallies with their one-point demand for the resignation of the ruling government and handing over power to a caretaker government. The demonstration took place in Shyamali Ring Road at 3:00 PM of noon where Mirza Abbas gave his Speech.

Earlier this week, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed his dissatisfaction to young generation as according to him, they are not showing interest in any anti-govt movement.
