The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent tests were published on Wednesday morning, with an overall passing percentage of 85.95 percent. 

In the 11 education boards, a total of 1,203,4407 examinees appeared in the exam. Under the 11 boards, there are nine general board, one madrasah, and one technical board. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the results at around 11:45 a.m. An earlier copy of the results was given to PM by Education Minister Dipu Moni.

Board wise result:

The passing rate in Dhaka Board is 87.83 percent, Barisal 86.95 percent, Chittagong 80.50 percent, Comilla 90.72 percent, Dinajpur 79.08 percent, Rajshahi 81.60 percent, Sylhet 81.40 percent, Mymensingh 80.32 percent and Jessore 83.95 percent. In addition, the pass rates for the madrasa board is 92.56 percent and the technical education board is 94.41 percent.

Dhaka education board holds the highest GPA-5 with 62,421 students, followed by Rajshahi education board with 21,855, Jashore education board with 18,703, Cumilla education board with 14,991, Dinajpur education board with 11,830 students, and Chattogram education board with 12,671 students. Sylhet education board ranks last, with 4,871 students achieving GPA-5. In the meantime, students in the Barishal and Mymensingh school boards performed marginally better, with 7,386 and 5,028 GPA-5 recipients, respectively.

Girls performed better:

Girls have done better than boys on the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams. There are 622,796 male examinees and 580,611 female examinees out of the total of 1,23,407 examinees. The pass rate for girls is 87.48%, whilst the pass rate for boys is 84.53%.

Cumilla’s passing rate is highest:

The Cumilla education board had the maximum pass rate among the nine educational boards. Cumilla topped the list with a 90.72 percent pass rate, while Mymensingh ranked last with an 80.32 percent pass rate.

With 87.83 percent, Dhaka board came in second, and in Barishal, 86.95 percent of students passed.

A decline in passing rate, examine and GPA-5

The average passing rate of HSC candidates is 9.31 percent lower than last time. In 2022, there was also a decline in the number of students with a GPA of 5. This time, 1,762,282 students obtained GPA 5. The figure was 1,089,169 during the previous year.

There were 2,649 exam centers nationwide. In the previous year, there were 1,399,659 examinees. Comparatively, there were 196,283 less applicants this year.
