Ambassadors are the official representatives of their home country abroad. Ambassadors are also referred to as diplomats, which is a more generic term for people who serve their home nation abroad while still maintaining their citizenship there. They advocate for better governmental ties between nations in specific sectors, such as commerce, military action, and cultural understanding.

Within the last few months, many new envoys have been appointed in Bangladesh recently. Many of the new Ambassadors or High Commissioners are from countries that have strong bilateral significance or strategic partnerships with Bangladesh.
Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh
The newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh is Iwama Kiminori. He began working for the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1986, after earning a Bachelor of Law from the University of Kyoto.
In 2002, he was named Senior Coordinator of the Minister’s Secretariat and Secretary to the State Minister of Foreign Affairs. In addition to his position as Chamberlain to the Crown Prince of Japan beginning in July 2009, Iwama Kiminori participated in many foreign representations of Japan, including the Permanent Mission of Japan to the UN in Geneva beginning in 2003.
After four years as Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Germany, Iwama Kiminori was promoted to the position of Chief of Protocol (Ambassador) at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018. He presented his credential to President M Abdul Hamid on 27 December 2022.
High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh
Newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma has taken charge as the country’s envoy in September 2022. Bangladesh President received His Excellency’s credential on 27 October 2022.
Pranay Kumar Verma holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career at Tata Steel, an Indian steel manufacturer, before moving on to the Indian Foreign Service. He also has a Master’s in the Chinese language from the US-based Middlebury Institute of International Studies in California.
He has been a diplomat for India since 1994 and has worked in Hong Kong, San Francisco, Beijing, Kathmandu, and Washington, DC. Since June of 2017, he has been the Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division at New Delhi’s Ministry of External Affairs.
Previously, he oversaw India’s nuclear diplomacy as the Department of Atomic Energy’s joint secretary for external affairs.
Ambassador of China to Bangladesh
The newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bangladesh is Mr. Yao Wen. Yao was born in August 1973. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Law. He is a member of the Communist Party of China.
He presented his credential to President Hamid on 9th January 2022.
Ambassador of France to Bangladesh
The newly appointed Ambassador of France to Bangladesh is Marie Masdupuy. Her tenure in Bangladesh began on 12th December 2022 after she presented her credential to President Abdul Hamid.
Marie Masdupuy got her degree in Political Sciences from SciencesPo Paris and has spent most of her career serving France abroad. Her career began in the Soviet Union (1991–1994), where she worked in the European Affairs Department before relocating to Brussels as part of the French Permanent Representation to NATO (1994-1997).
Marie Masdupuy is fluent in six languages and a recipient of the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite and Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur awards.
Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Bangladesh
The New Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Bangladesh is Mr. Abdullah Ali Al Hmoudi. He is serving as the Ambassador to Bangladesh since 12th October 2022.
H.E. Abdulla Ali Al Hmoudi was born on September 23, 1985, in the United Arab Emirates. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Accounting from Coventry University in the United Kingdom (UK) and Master of Business Administration from American University in the Emirates before beginning his career. In 2013 and 2014, he served as the UAE embassy’s deputy head of mission in Tripoli, Libya. During 2017–2018, he served as a member of the Establishing UAE Embassy in Copenhagen committee at the UAE Embassy in Copenhagen.
In March 2020, Mr. Abdulla Ali Al Hmoudi was appointed as the Charge d’ Affaires of the United Arab Emirates in Bangladesh.
Ambassador of Kuwait to Bangladesh
The newly appointed Ambassador of Kuwait to Bangladesh is Mr. Faisal Mutlaq Aladwani. He started serving as the envoy to Bangladesh in August 20022 succeeding Adel Mohammed Hayat.
Ambassador of Iran to Bangladesh
The newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh is Mr. Mansour Chavoshi.
He was born in 1 November, 1961. He completed his Master of International Law from Payame Noor University. From 1988 to 1992, he served as Political Officer for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad. From 1988 to 2005 he served as a political officer in various divisions.
Moreover, Mansour oversaw the Economic Department and the Foreign Ministry’s Home Media Department. He has previously worked as an Iranian diplomat in Pakistan, Germany, and Italy, and he was also Iran’s ambassador to North Korea. He has been serving as the Iran Ambassador to Bangladesh since August 2022.
