Police in Bangladesh recently takes an incredible initiative to prevent suicide after the incident took place earlier this month. A man in Dhaka shot himself in the head during a Livestream. In this case, police have teamed hands with social media giants Meta and TikTok

Meta uses artificial intelligence to detect suicide risks on its platforms, not only by looking for specific keywords but also by evaluating photographs and videos that may depict persons in danger of killing themselves.

  • To address the people of Bangladesh’s mental health, a significant investment is necessary.

Meta has collaborated with law authorities in the United States and other countries in recent years to identify potential suicide threats, but this appears to be the first time such collaboration has occurred in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has an “epidemic of suicide,” according to the sociology professor. There are only approximately 500 professional psychologists and 1,200 counselors in the country of 167 million people. We have yet to develop a system to deal with mental health issues. Organizations should collaborate with mental health specialists to address these difficulties among their employees, not simply because the country requires more psychologists. To address the people of Bangladesh’s mental health, a significant investment is necessary.
