In the wake of the Corona pandemic, Dhaka WASA has decided to raise the price of water once more.

  • WASA has proposed 40% increase in water price this time
  • The price of water has been increased twice at residential and commercial levels in last two years
  • In 13 years, the price of WASA water has increased 14 times in capital Dhaka

This time, the idea of hiking the price was discussed in a special board meeting of Dhaka WASA on Monday.

People’s complaints regarding water quality, on the other hand, have remained unanswered. At the moment, the cost of 1,000 litres of water for residential consumers is Tk 15.16.

Residents will have to pay Tk 21.25 as per the WASA’s latest recommendation. The price of 1,000 liters of water is presently 42 tk if you have a commercial connection. The price of water in a commercial connection, according to WASA’s plan, will be Tk 56.06.

The revised prices will be implemented by Dhaka WASA from July 1st. In the instance of WASA’s decision, Taksim A Khan, the company’s managing director, takes the lead. At yesterday’s meeting, he was particularly active in advocating for higher water pricing.
