As the 12th parliamentary election of Bangladesh approaches, the ruling Awami League and its leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed their confidence in securing another victory and continuing the development and progress of the country. In a strongly worded speech, the PM also warned of the conspiracies of the anti-Bangladesh forces, who she accused of trying to derail the democratic process and undermine the sovereignty of the nation.

The Awami League chief and the prime minister made these remarks while addressing a huge election rally at the Government Rajendra College field in Faridpur on January 2, as part of their campaign tour in the southern districts. The rally was attended by thousands of enthusiastic supporters, who chanted slogans of “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu” and waved the green and red party flags. They showed their support and admiration for Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh.

PM Warns the Public

Sheikh Hasina said that the country did not see any development during the regimes of illegal power grabbers who seized power by violating the constitution with the strength of arms. She referred to the dark history of the country, when her father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and most of his family members were brutally killed on August 15, 1975, by a group of renegade army officers. She also mentioned the killings of four national leaders in jail on November 3, 1975, and the subsequent political turmoil and violence that plagued the country for decades. She said that these incidents were part of a conspiracy to erase the spirit and legacy of the liberation war of 1971, in which the Awami League played a pivotal role.

She said that the Awami League, the party that led the liberation struggle and the war of independence in 1971, had to fight against the anti-liberation forces and restore democracy and constitutional rule in the country. She said that her party had faced many challenges and obstacles, including the BNP-Jamaat alliance’s attempts to sabotage the 2014 general election and the 2018 general election, and the recent border crisis with India over the Rohingya refugees. She said that the BNP-Jamaat alliance was a coalition of corrupt and communal forces, who had no vision or agenda for the development of the country. She said that the border crisis with India was a humanitarian issue and that the government had taken all the necessary steps to protect the interests and dignity of the country.

Highlighting Awami League’s triumph

The PM said that despite all the adversities, the Awami League government had done massive development works across the country, in various sectors such as education, health, agriculture, industry, infrastructure, power, communication, information technology, and social welfare. She said that the government had achieved remarkable success in reducing poverty, improving human development indicators, ensuring food security, and attaining the status of a lower-middle-income country. She said that the government had also implemented Vision 2021, the dream of Bangabandhu, to make Bangladesh a prosperous and modern country by the golden jubilee of its independence.

She said that the government had also adopted Vision 2041, to make Bangladesh an upper-middle-income country by 2031 and a developed country by 2041. She said that the government had set forth various goals and plans to achieve these visions, such as maintaining 9% GDP growth, increasing investment and tax revenue, diversifying exports, and enhancing human capital and innovation. She said that the government had also taken steps to preserve the culture and heritage of the country and to uphold the values of democracy, secularism, and nationalism.

She urged the people of the country to vote for the Awami League and its allies in the upcoming election and to reject the forces of evil and destruction. She said that the Awami League was the only party that could fulfill the aspirations of the people and ensure the stability and security of the country. She said that the Awami League was the party of Bangabandhu, the father of the nation and that the people of Bangladesh were his children. She said that the Awami League was committed to building a Sonar Bangla, a golden Bengal, as envisioned by Bangabandhu. She said that the Awami League was the party of the people, by the people, and for the people. She said that the Awami League was the party of joy, peace, and prosperity.

PM’s Appeal to Support AL Govt

She appealed to the people to support the Awami League government, which had more tasks ahead to fulfill their dreams and make Bangladesh a smart nation. She asked them to vote for the Awami League and its allies in the Grand Alliance and to shun the parties that lacked vision or agenda for the country. She warned them not to be deceived by the propaganda and lies of the anti-Bangladesh forces, who sought to create unrest and disorder in the country. She urged them to stay alert and united to thwart any bid to hamper the election and to safeguard the democracy and sovereignty of the country.

She claimed that the Awami League was the source of all the accomplishments of the country, from the emergence of nationalism, the liberation war, and the revival of democracy, to the socio-economic progress. She asserted that the Awami League was the party of the people, and that it had a pledge to serve the people and the country with integrity and dedication. She stated that the Awami League was the party of Bangabandhu and his daughter and that it followed their principles and sacrifices. She declared that the Awami League was the party of happiness and triumph and that it had faith in winning the affection and trust of the people in the 12th parliamentary election.

The Awami League invites the citizens of Bangladesh to join them in their quest for a “Sonar Bangla,” a golden Bengal that Bangabandhu dreamed of. The party, which has a rich history and legacy in the nation, urges the people to resist the forces that threaten the country’s unity and development. The Awami League promises to serve the nation with honesty and devotion. Their vision for a happy, peaceful, and prosperous Bangladesh inspires hope and progress. The 12th parliamentary election is near, and the Awami League remains steadfast in its commitment to Bangladesh’s advancement, stability, and independence. The party’s strong conviction in earning the people’s love and confidence reflects its dedication to leading Bangladesh to a better future.
