An explosion has occurred at the Seema Re-Rolling Mill’s oxygen plant in the Kadmarsul area of Sitakunda, Chattogram. 8 units of fire service are currently working to bring it under control.

Tragically, three people have been reported killed, and at least 20 others have been injured. The incident occurred around 4:30 pm today (March 4, Saturday) at the plant in the Kadamrasul area of the port city.

Fazle Rabbi, the officer in charge of the Sitakunda Fire Service, confirmed the information about the blast and stated that 8 units of the fire service had reached the spot after receiving the news about the explosion at the Seema Oxygen Plant.

A Senior Officer of the Kumira Fire Service Station, confirmed that many people were injured in the explosion. At least 10 of those injured in the explosion have been admitted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

According to locals, the surrounding area was shaken by the loud explosion at the Seema Re-Rolling Mill’s oxygen plant. The owner of Faria Enterprises, which is located next to the oxygen plant, reported that after the loud explosion, iron and wood were seen flying around, and some injured people were being taken to the hospital from inside the plant.

Sadly, this area has seen such incidents before. Last year, on the night of June 4, there was a terrible explosion and fire at a container depot in the same area, which claimed the lives of 50 people, and more than 200 people were injured.
