The culture of ‘Salami’ in Eid-ul-Fitr is quite old. The joy of Eid begins with the adults handing over a few new notes to the children on the morning of Eid. On the day of Eid, the salutation is given from morning till afternoon. The little ones are overjoyed after receiving new notes. To make the kids happy, the adults collect new notes before Eid. And for this reason many people rush to buy new notes at the money market located above Gulistan underground market in Dhaka. Throughout the year, about 30 vendors sit in this market, arranging new note stalls from morning till dawn. But, the note market be-comes crowded ahead of Eid. Buyers come to this market to buy new bundles of 2Tk to 100Tk notes. PHOTO: PRESS XPRESS
