Bangladesh plans to have all its citizens vaccinated by the ensuing December. Health Minister Zahid Maleque has urged all countrymen to get vaccinated, citing the fact that vaccinated patients have been encountering a lower rate of casualties.
At present, nearly 2,500 Covid-19 patients are being treated in hospitals across the nation, including 1,500 patients in Dhaka hospitals. “About 70% of the countrymen have been vaccinated,” the minister revealed, “Around 67.5 million individuals have received first and second doses, while 2.6 million more have taken the booster dose.”
The government, according to him, is having trouble these days in finding out individuals to get vaccinated. The government has already spent over Tk 2,00,000 million on vaccinations for the citizens.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 234 of the 322 people who died in January were unvaccinated, while 18 had taken the first dose, 68 the second dose, and 2 others received the booster dose.
