Cambodia is in the final stages of its nationwide land registration initiative, with approximately four million land parcels officially registered to date.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, Say Samal, announced that only 500,000 parcels remain unregistered, with the process expected to be completed by 2026.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new headquarters of the Takeo Provincial Military Police in Roka Krao commune, Daun Keo city, Say Samal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to finalizing land registration. He emphasized that completing this process would enhance land security for citizens and significantly reduce land disputes.

According to the minister, large-scale registration efforts have already contributed to a substantial decline in land conflicts across Cambodia. Fewer than 1,000 land dispute cases remain under the ministry’s jurisdiction, with officials actively working to resolve them.

Addressing ongoing challenges in housing development projects, Say Samal noted that most disputes have been settled. However, around 20 projects still require government intervention, and the ministry is continuing its efforts to resolve these issues.

The nationwide land registration initiative is part of Cambodia’s broader strategy to strengthen land ownership security, promote economic stability, and mitigate future land-related conflicts. The effort aligns with the government’s long-term development agenda aimed at fostering sustainable growth and investment in the country.
