Tesla, under Elon Musk’s ownership, has been grappling with recurring technical issues across several of its electric vehicle models, raising significant safety concerns. The latest problem involves a defect in the tire pressure warning light system, prompting the company to recall 700,000 vehicles for urgent software updates.
The affected models include the 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3S, and 2020-2025 Model YS. Tesla announced that the defect, identified as a software-related issue, will be resolved through swift updates once the vehicles are recalled. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the tire pressure monitoring system may fail to warn drivers about low tire pressure, potentially endangering vehicle safety.
This is not Tesla’s first brush with such problems. Earlier in January, the company recalled 200,000 Model S, X, and Y units due to camera malfunctions, which were later addressed through software patches. More recently, Tesla had to recall its much-anticipated Cybertruck due to defects in the accelerator pedal.
