A devastating accident involving a BEST bus on route 332 occurred in Kurla, Mumbai, on Monday night, leaving six dead and 43 injured, with several victims in critical condition. The crowded bus, traveling from Kurla to Andheri, lost control near the White House building close to the L Ward office at approximately 9:30 PM. Eyewitnesses described the scene on S.G. Barve Road as chaotic, comparing it to a terror attack.

The bus reportedly struck multiple vehicles, including five to six autorickshaws and ten motorcycles, before ramming into pedestrians and hawkers, finally crashing into the entrance gate of Ambedkar Nagar. Witnesses recounted harrowing moments as the bus plowed through the crowded street, injuring many and causing widespread panic. A mob apprehended the driver, who claimed a brake failure, and handed him over to the police.

Victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Bhabha Hospital. Authorities, including the Regional Transport Office, have launched a detailed investigation to determine whether the accident resulted from mechanical failure or driver negligence. A technical expert is examining the bus for evidence of brake malfunction, with BEST officials vowing accountability. The death toll could rise due to the severity of injuries sustained.
