Qualcomm has officially launched its latest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, set to drive the next wave of Android flagship devices with unprecedented power and efficiency.
Building on the naming synergy with its ARM-based X Elite laptop processors, the Snapdragon 8 Elite introduces the advanced Oryon CPU—a custom eight-core powerhouse. This setup includes two prime cores clocked at 4.32 GHz and six performance cores at up to 3.53 GHz, supported by a substantial 24MB L2 cache and high-speed 5,300MHz LPDDR5X RAM.
Manufactured on TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm process, this chip is a game-changer, delivering a 45% CPU performance boost alongside 44% better power efficiency compared to its predecessor. On the graphics front, Qualcomm’s revamped Adreno GPU takes center stage, offering 40% faster performance with enhanced power savings and upgraded ray-tracing capabilities.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is also the first mobile SoC to support Unreal Engine 5.3 and the Nanite virtualized geometry system, setting a new standard for mobile gaming and rendering detail.
Qualcomm’s AI advancements are equally impressive. The Hexagon neural processing unit (NPU) powers a 45% improvement in AI task speed, maximizing performance per watt. With a new AI Engine supporting multimodal Gen AI, this chip handles both large and small models, even managing up to 70 tokens on small language models (SLMs).
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite is a major leap forward, making it a top choice for next-generation mobile experiences, from seamless multitasking to immersive gaming and AI-powered applications.
