Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said people of the country are eager to exercise their voting rights peacefully during the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls. Quader expressed confidence in the people’s enthusiasm to participate peacefully in exercising their voting rights during this crucial electoral event.

During a press briefing at the AL’s Dhaka district office in Tejgaon, Quader highlighted the comprehensive participation of 28 political parties, fielding a total of 1,970 candidates across 299 seats. “Each candidate participated in the campaign being respectful to the code of conduct. The code of conduct has been violated in some places. Still, the candidates are campaigning,” Quader said.
Underlining the Commission’s newfound financial autonomy, she emphasized the significant repositioning of the administration and law enforcement agencies, now operating under the Election Commission’s purview.
Reiterating the Commission’s independent role in overseeing the electoral process, the Prime Minister assured full governmental support to facilitate a transparent and tranquil election.
Asserting the Awami League’s deep-rooted connection with the masses, she emphasized the party’s historical commitment to steering the nation’s socio-economic development during its tenure in power.
The Prime Minister underscored the government’s multifaceted initiatives, ensuring food security, safety, healthcare, housing, education, and employment opportunities, while concurrently spearheading substantial infrastructure development for the country’s progress.
