A group of prominent teachers of the Rajshahi University have joined the peace-loving people’s voice to denounce BNP-led Jamaat-e-Islami orchestrated anarchy. These intellectuals conveyed strong criticism and condemnation of the dark force’s barbarism. Later, about 100 distinguished teachers signed the criticism note to mark it on record.
Amongst them, distinguished professors like Dr. AHM Kamrul Ahsan, Dr. M Ahsan Kabir, Dr. Nazmul Islam, and 97 others have expressed their deep concern stating that “The violent actions of these groups consistently hinder the ongoing development of the country, a lamentable situation considering their attempts to destabilize the nation where Bangladesh itself emerged.”

“Expressing deep concern over the acts of violence in the name of politics, we strongly condemn these terrorist activities. Simultaneously, we call for an end to violence and appeal for a positive political discourse for the nation’s well-being.”, they added.
They brought back the glorious memories of Independence before the huge audience and said together that the blood-bathed liberty of Bangladesh has been earned through the sacrifice of three million lives. Their sacrifice was for the people’s economic freedom as well as well-being under the leadership of the Great Bengali Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They all opined that the present ruling party Awami League leadership is protecting the rights of the country’s people and to do so, the democratic system is on the way to maintaining constitutional provisions to support holding a free and fair election. Despite these whole parameters of the constitutional commitment to certain values of democracy, unfortunately surrounding the upcoming 12th National Parliament election scheduled on January 7, 2024, covert plans and actions of BNP and its ally the orthodox Islamic forces are causing disruption and hazards to the people.
As the current scenario of arson from 28th October to now, these atrocities have left the country in a bubble of terror where the people are constantly falling victim to sudden attacks and damages.
During the purported political protests, BNP supporters damaged 278 vehicles, damaged vehicles include 170 buses, 45 trucks, 23 covered vans, & motorcycles. Burnt several trains and consequently, 16 were burnt alive and many got burn injuries. Even essential commodities transporting vehicles were not spared.
The Rajshahi University has urged international institutions to closely monitor the real-life situations of families affected by these acts of violence and terrorism in Bangladesh and requested them to extend their support to the Awami League government to prevent further atrocities.
