Editor’s Note:
1 2th Parliamentary Election gets Festive Mood
Provenly the People of the country are in a festive mood over the forthcoming 12th Parliamentary Election scheduled to be held on 7th January 2024. Despite the ongoing political violence orchestrated by the BNP and its election boycott, most political parties are busy with their electoral preparations amid much enthusiasm. Dramatically, in addition to the party candidates, a large number of aspirants are vying for the election as independent candidates. Of them, the highest 442 independent candidates are from the Awami League while 24 senior leaders of the BNP have also become independent candidates. All of them have placed their full confidence in the Election Commission’s independent system. Indeed, the Election Commission is the constitutional institution with the legal capacity to hold a free and fair election.
Painfully, for narrow party interests, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its close ally radical Islamic forces are critically engaged in an unconstitutional approach against the elected Awami League government to topple. To achieve this goal, it has coined up with foreign countries without caring for the country’s sovereignty. Consequently, politically conscious people believe that a dark cloud of uncertainty is looming over the horizon of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) political future.
In the prominent political scenario of Bangladesh, overtly, we do see a good number of key figures of the BNP had already left the party zone opting to join other political chambers, and maybe, a rude reality will appear to the “Negative Leadership of BNP” that they might be lost the political ground of strength in course of time.
