The relationship between Bangladesh and the United States has played a vital role in fostering economic growth and regional stability. However, recently, the relationship is hitting rocky waters more often than used to. The tinges of the sour relationship are becoming evident as the US is taking some unilateral steps which is unexpected for a long-term partnership. To safeguard their long-term interests, both nations must prioritize open dialogue, respect each other’s sovereignty, and avoid actions that strain the relationship.

Bangladesh government has recently announced its budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, which is receiving praise for its consideration of addressing the criterion of the general public, many challenges of the present economic crunch and its consideration of steps towards Vision 2041. The announcement of ‘Universal Pension Plan’ which is due to commence in 2028, is a significant step for our journey towards a developed nation with larger social welfare benefits.
