On the solemn occasion of Bangabandhu’s 48th martyrdom anniversary, Joy took to Facebook to assert the chilling truth – Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed and General Ziaur Rahman were the architects of this heinous assassination

In a poignant revisitation of the haunting events of August 15, 1975, when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the revered leader, and most of his family members met a tragic and brutal end, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the ICT Advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has shed light on the untold facets of this dark chapter.

On the solemn occasion of Bangabandhu’s 48th martyrdom anniversary, Joy took to Facebook to assert the chilling truth – Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed and General Ziaur Rahman were the architects of this heinous assassination. The Dhanmondi residence, once a hub of significant historical events including the 1971 liberation struggle, now stands as a macabre witness to a massacre that left the ground soaked in the blood of the innocent.

In a heartfelt post, Joy delineated the gravity of the event, “Assassins gunned down family members inside the Dhanmondi residence, which stands as a witness to all the important events till the 1971 liberation war. The residence has turned into a pool of blood.” He further revealed, “Khandkar Mushtaq and General Ziaur Rahman were among those who planned the massacre.”

The aftermath of this gruesome episode plunged the nation into a period of turmoil, as subsequent leaders forged alliances with fundamentalist elements, dismantling the promise of a secular Bangladesh that the founding father had envisioned. Joy lamented the erosion of this foundational principle, underscoring that it was a dream that had been pledged to the people.

A Testament of Valor Amidst Vigilance: Bangabandhu’s Indomitable Spirit

In homage to the architect of the nation, Joy paid tribute to Bangabandhu’s unwavering resilience and indomitable spirit. He narrated how Bangabandhu’s tenacity had instilled fear in the Pakistan Army, resulting in continuous surveillance of his movements. Notably, Bangabandhu’s resolute rallying behind the Six-Point Demands amidst incessant surveillance bore testimony to his bravery and determination.

When the Pakistan Army unleashed the harrowing Operation Searchlight on unarmed civilians on March 25, their main target was none other than Bangabandhu’s Dhanmondi residence, as recounted by Joy. Amidst the siege, a defiant Bangabandhu raised his voice, commanding the soldiers to cease firing – a testament to his valiance.

Rebuilding from Ruin: Bangabandhu’s Visionary Reconstruction Efforts

Post Bangladesh’s liberation, Joy illuminated the arduous journey Bangabandhu embarked upon to reconstruct a war-torn nation, shattered by the atrocities of the Pakistan Army. “But the mission was fraught with insurmountable challenges. He (Bangabandhu) had to start – almost every road was in disrepair with no reserve,” he eloquently articulated. In response to Bangabandhu’s call, the nation’s youth and war heroes united in the noble endeavor of rebuilding their homeland.

Joy extolled Bangabandhu’s diplomatic prowess, highlighting his elevation to a position of international prominence. Bangladesh’s inclusion in prestigious international organizations such as the United Nations, OIC, and the Commonwealth underscored the leader’s global stature.

Unveiling a Nation’s Resilience: Overcoming Adversities

Remarkably, Bangladesh defied the odds and achieved an impressive 11 percent growth rate within a span of three years. This achievement was a poignant response to the adversaries who had vehemently opposed the nation’s pursuit of independence and progress.

Joy exposed a conspiracy involving national and international forces, intent on sabotaging the birth and growth of the nation. The nefarious plot culminated in the tragic assassination of Bangabandhu and 19 members of his family on that fateful August 15 in 1975.

A Digital Chronicle of Truth

Joy unveiled these revelations through a video shared on his verified Facebook page, highlighting that those who sought to suppress the nation’s independence also hindered its development.

The video underscored that the murderers were rewarded, a precedent set to perpetuate the killings and counteract Bengali nationalism. It lamented the twisted reality where murderers were perceived as saviors while the quest for justice remained elusive. The video elucidated how Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, perpetuated a “culture of impunity” through the infamous Indemnity Act, effectively shielding Bangabandhu’s killers from facing justice.

In conclusion, Joy’s elucidations provide a solemn insight into the multifaceted tragedy of August 15, 1975. With candor and conviction, he unearths a narrative that echoes the resilience, bravery, and sacrifice of a leader who stood as the embodiment of the nation’s aspirations.
