An event was organized in Dhaka to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Association of Russian Compatriots in Bangladesh, “RODINA” (Motherland), and Russian House in Dhaka provided their support for the event. The participants paid homage to the occasion by participating in a memorial action called “St. George’s Ribbon,” followed by an auto rally consisting of over 50 cars and motorcycles adorned with black-orange St. George ribbons, representing the “Immortal Regiment.” In addition, replicas of the Flags of Victory in 1945 and the Soviet Union were also present.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Alexander V. Mantytskiy, welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of preserving the memory of our forefathers’ courage and the decisive role played by the USSR in defeating Nazism.
Numerous Bangladeshi students from Stamford University, members of Soviet Alumni Association Bangladesh (SAAB), and CIS-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, along with the Russian Embassy staff, actively participated in this widely covered event by local media. The attendees lit the Candle of Memory to pay their respects. The festivities concluded with a grand reception hosted by the Russian diplomatic mission to commemorate the occasion.
