Bangladesh has been ranked 8th out of 200 countries across the world in terms of vaccination programme. Revealing this, Health Minister Zahid Maleque further said 85 per cent of the people in the country have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Mentioning that this was possible under the stewardship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said the pharmaceutical companies also have a role to play in the success of controlling the spread of the virus in Bangladesh. The health minister said this while participating in the inaugural ceremony of Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week through a virtual platform.
He said, “Around half million people have died in our neighbouring India from Covid-19. In addition, one million people have died from the virus in the world’s most powerful country – the USA. Compared to that, Bangladesh is in a much better position. Everything in the country including trade and commerce, educational institutions is running normally now.”Covid-19 mortality rate in Bangladesh is also much lower than other countries. So far 32,000 people have died due to Covid infection in the country.
